2024 OEA-PAC Endorsements and Recommendations
Over the weekend, educators from across the state joined together in Eugene to participate in the Oregon Education Association’s Political Action Committee (OEA-PAC) convention. Delegates heard directly from candidates running for state and federal office, engaged with candidates during question-and-answer forums, and voted to make endorsements and recommendations.
In Oregon’s federal races, the OEA-PAC makes recommendations that are forwarded to NEA’s PAC Council, the exclusive endorsing body for federal candidates seeking the endorsement of Oregon’s educators. Recommendations do not constitute endorsements. NEA’s PAC Council will convene in the final week of April to deliberate and make final endorsement decisions for federal candidates.
The OEA-PAC endorsement and recommendation process is entirely member-driven, and any candidate running for a statewide or federal office has the opportunity to pursue an endorsement or recommendation. Candidates seeking an endorsement or recommendation from OEA-PAC engage with members in a number of ways, including the completion of a candidate questionnaire, speaking with OEA-PAC delegates directly in the weeks leading up to the convention, and participating in a live question and answer session during the convention.
Candidates earn the endorsement or recommendation of the OEA-PAC when they earn the majority vote of convention delegates. Any OEA member who has donated at least $5.00 to the OEA-PAC in a given election cycle may participate as a convention delegate.
Every OEA member who contributes to the OEA-PAC does so voluntarily. OEA does not use member dues for direct candidate support.
